Everyone grows toward something and everyone grows through something.

Growth is never straightforward.

Everyone grows toward something and everyone grows through something.

You grow toward your values and you grow through your limitations and obstacles.

Growing through your particular obstacle you become who you were meant to become.

You have to find a thread in your life that you can hold onto when things get challenging.

For me, my thread is my mindfulness practice. I always find my way back to it.

Holding on to the thread doesn’t make life any easier, but it can keep us from getting lost in the darkness that swallow us up every now and then.

Knowing we can find our way home with that thread in hand, we’re more likely to explore the darkness and learn what it has to teach us.

From time to time, we all lose track of the important things in our lives. Perhaps you lose it when you succumb to your own fears, or to other people’s expectations, or to the non-stop circus of distractions we call the modern world.

So I read this, which helps me to find the thread again.

The thread of life.

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it never changes. It may stretch or tangle. But it will never break.

People wonder what the thread is
You have to explain the thread.
But it is hard for many people to understand or even believe in.

We each have our own thread

While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Things will happen to you and you may let go of the thread or have a hard time finding it again.

But nothing you can do will ever break that thread.

It connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, and circumstance.

What is your thread?
